Here is the format for referencing an online encyclopedia entry:

Author's family name, Initial or Corporate/Group Author. (Date). Title of entry in sentence case. In Title of encyclopedia in italic sentence case. URL 

Royal, T.-A. C. (2017). Waikato tribes: Turangawaewe. In Te ara: The encyclopedia of New Zealand. https://teara.govt.nz/en/waikato-tribes/page-5 

Note:

  • Use the most recently updated/revised date if one is available. Do not use a reviewed date because this does not imply anything has changed.
